Bibhav,
Is the orignal image captured in Raw or in JPEG? Are you saving again and again on the same Jpeg image. If you save more number of times, then the quality will be lost. How are you reducing the size? Let me know.

i take the original jpeg and reduce it to 800X600 pixels .. then save it to the size arnd 200kb... but if its slightly grter than 200kb i think the site does its own compression again due to which the resolution decreases agn. it dusnt happen if size <200kb...

yes. the site will do its own compression if it is higher than 200. So better to check it before uploading. How do you reduce it? Which software do you use?

Great.

In Photoshop
- go to IMAGE... MODE and make sure it is sRGB color
- go to IMAGE... IMAGE SIZE
- make sure that the CONSTRAIN PROPORTIONS and RESAMPLE IMAGE boxes are both ticked
- change RESOLUTION field to 120 pixels/inch (dpi)
- change WIDTH or HEIGHT field (whichever is larger) to 800 pixels (important you do it in this order otherwise the width and height will change)
- go to FILTER... SHARPEN... SHARPEN (this will make the image clearer - only do this once!)
- go to FILE... SAVE (don't use SAVE FOR WEB if you have IPTC info in your image as you may lose it)
- change SAVE AS field to JPEG
- change directory to where you want to save your jpeg and click SAVE
- when the JPEG OPTIONS box appears, change QUALITY field to about 70% or so (you can see which option gives you below 200kb)
- click OK

yea dats almost what i do... when i resize it is ok.. but when i upload its clarity reduces somehow if the size is even slightly grter than 200 kb... i think the website compressor is causing this... will try to keep files within 200kb
