Nice sighting. Very interesting bole in the tree. Slight off centered composition with more space on the left and less on the right would strengthen the image further. What was the aperture? Thanks for sharing.

F5.6. Very high ISO because of low light. I think it would be around 1/2000 shutter as well.

The bulge in the tree hole also makes a compositional element. I deliberately did not 'brighten' the image more as this grade gives a correct feeling of the light levels at the location.

The triangular shape of the tree bole has come out well here as the image is clicked from one side. Since the owl won't move much, reducing the shutter speed would have been possible as well. Did you click a vertical image as well? Thanks for sharing.

nice sighting.not too sure if this is a pallid , looks more like a Collared scops owl. Are there records of pallid scops owl frm Ranthambore?

@Roopak : I was stuck on the same question. It could also be the Indian Scops Owl, which does prefer a dry deciduous forest. The Indian Scops Owl has been spotted at Keoladeo Ghana, and this could be the identity.

Anyone?
