The whole herd automatically formed itself into a line which subtly conveyed a sense of mild aggression to the intruders. The presence of the feeding calf may have probably acted as a catalyst.Canon 60D+100-400mm ISO160 1/200s f/6.3 FL130mm.Against a setting sun on an April evening in Corbett 2014.

A nice protective shield for the mother and calf. Liked the display of habitat in the evening light. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely scene. The light is nice. The elephant is trying to smell and check if there is any threat. Did you click this in the Dhikala zone? Thanks for sharing.

Lovely composition with ascending heights and beautiful habitat. Baby less than six months' old suckling, the young tusker raising the trunk above the head trying to investigate the airborne scent in this hilly terrain. Large tuskers possibly do not provide such cover. So much of information in this image. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Sabyasachi ,this was indeed in the Dikhala Zone.Roopak, the number of elephants seen in the image was what comprised the herd.Larger congregations of elephant were to be seen during the evening on the shores of the Ram Ganga. These seem to split into little family groups during the feeding hours of the day that were spent inside the forest.
