There were mixed feelings in my mind when I saw this beauty for the first time in my life. I was very happy that I am about to photograph this bird, and sad because I don't know whether my three years old kid will be able to see this bird in field, or will he just have to be satisfied by looking at its pictures.

I felt that the Vulture is asking the same question to the god, "God, how much more time do I have on this planet ?"......

My heart was heavy while returning back from Ramanagara after shooting this bird...

Can we do nothing ??

Hi Subramanya,
That is an enticing thought. And coupled with the image it puts forth very powerful feelings.

I felt the image composition was excellent. The rock patterns and the bird pose was good. Although i did also feel the image was a bit dark and on the under-exposed side.
I checked the histogram and it was towards the left. I increased the levels a bit to expose the face right, then reduced the highlights to get the BG and the breast plumage to level. Then marginally pushed up the contrast.

This is the repost. Let me know if this works for you...

Beautiful photograph. The composition, the colours and the look in the eye is amazing. I too still have not seen this bird.I think that will be something I will do when I am back in Bangalore, that is go to Ramanagara.

I think steps are been taken to protect, but I am not sure how fruitful they are.

Bibhav technically the changes you have done add to the image, but personally I liked the original look, since it gave a bit sad feeling to the photograph.

The title really goes with the image. It has been years since I saw vultures up close and personal. Really like the way the texture on the neck shows up. Bibhav's PP adds value to this image IMHO as the face looks a bit dark in the original image.

What was the exif information?

Kartik

I agree. This is lovely.

The texture on the rock is great. It seems to be calling for divine intervention. The lower rock ledge frames it nicely. The repost looks better as the shadows has been pulled up and the eye looks good.

How many of them are in Ramanagara?

Bibhav,

Thanks for suggestions and the PP correction. I too felt initially that it's a bit dark, but then decided to leave it intact. However the repost really looks fabulous.

@ Sabyasachi, we saw two of them roosting at this place for couple of hours. I know from some of my friends that there are some 10-20 of them in that area.
