during this summer we received many dehydrated small chicks as well as sub adult white rumped vultures at the van chetna kendra ,Ahmedabad. we are a group of voulanteers who work for vulture rescue and who can handle these birds. but unfortunately we did not receive any help from forest dept for the treatment of these precious birds. we had to treat the birds at private clinic from our pocket money. more over the dept. was also not ready to keep the birds for a few days at the van chetna kendra and quickly ordered to send the birds to shakkarbaug zoo, junagadh though they were not advised to travel such a long distance.
In the month of may 2009 we received 10 such chicks from ahmedabad city alone. we have more than 25 nests of WBV in IIM and SHAHIBAUG areas of our city, and around 100 WBVs.
I have observed that due to some unknown reason may be bcoz of change in the global temperature trend or lack of food, the parents are unable to feed the chicks and the hungry chicks fall down from their nests in search of food. they are unable to fly and die due to lack of food, dehydration or eaten away by dogs!!
its a really sad story to share with you people.

Hi Aditya,
Nice to know that you are working on these Beautiful species which are endangered and vanishing from the lands...
Good Job. Do try to find sponsors for your cause...
