Photographed at Bangalore Outskirts(Hesaraghatta), After Long time went for birding to Hesaraghatta, it was good that we sighted Marsh Harrier, Europen Roller, JacbinCuckoo, and few other small birds.

Nikon D7000, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED + AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E II/14E

F/5.6, 1/3200s, ISO 320

The European roller is the only member of the roller family of birds to breed in Europe. Its overall range extends into the Middle East and Central Asia and Morocco.It is classed as Near Threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Nice take off pose photographed. Liked the eye contact and the catchlight. The upward wing stroke looks nice. Good to know there are good sighting in Hasserghatta. Thanks for sharing.

Nice image of the bird in flight. Agile look nicely captured. Distinctive light blue underparts are clear.The bird also breeds from Baluchistan to Chitral and Kashmir. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Good to see an european roller taking off. How many did you sight? The high shutter speed has managed to freeze its right wing. The depth of field was not sufficient to cover the other wing. So it is blurred despite the higher shutter speed. How much of a crop is this? Thanks for sharing.
