Curtorim, Goa. Its camouflage is so good, it gets difficult to focus on it through the foliage. I spent close to 45 mns with a pair, after they deigned to bless me with their presence. Watched them feed on berries & caterpillars during the time, in which I also shot them, failing miserably most of the while. This is one of the best shots I managed to get of maybe 50-60 shots, most of which had a errant twig or leaf intervening / just behind in sharp focus!
Shot with the D 90, Nikkor 300mm f4 with the TC 14E, at 420mm, ISO 800, 1/500s - F/5.6, +0.3EV

True to its name as a leafbird, the colours bear synonymity.
You have posted the image on the auspicious 'Brother's day ( Bhai Phonta); the male, as if enjoying sweet offered so lovingly by the female after putting orange-yellow coloured phonta (tilak) on the forehead praying for long life.
Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

It is camouflaged so well in the leaves. Nice eye contact. Good you got it feeding on the berries. Some more sharpness would have enhanced the image further. Thanks for sharing.

In dense vegetation, it is natural that the leaves will be in focus along with the bird. One can try to use a narrow aperture and get more depth of field so that the image describes the habitat better. Doing noise reduction on the background removes some of the details and is not necessary. It may be easier to use manual focus instead of auto focus, as the auto focus can lock onto a leaf and one loses time. This bird has a black on black colour scheme around the eye so it is good that there is a catchlight in the eye. Else the eye doesn't stand apart. Thanks for sharing.
