Thirtan - on the way to the Great Himalayan National Park.

I saw a flash of blue & looking closely saw it was something I hadn't seen before. It was quite a distance away - about 60-70 ft away, foraging. A lifer. It set the surroundings on fire to me :)

Nikon D 90, Nikkor 300 mm f 4 + TC 14E, at 420 mm, ISO 400, 1/1000s - F/5.6, -0.3EV

Thanks all - Shyamala, yes how I wish I had got it closer....but the sighting was a blink and you miss it types. Its so small and it was on a tree which was about 60ft down a steep slope, shit by sitting down on the side of the road, balanced precariously, with the Tirthan river raging down far below.
Rupak - yes, its supposed to be one of the smallest, however the pale billed flowerpecker is known as the smallest one I believe....

i heard it is the smallest (under 7cm). although i have not seen a side by side comparison, it certainly looks smaller than a pale billed flower pecker.

Compared 2 shots of these birds that I'd taken at different places. You may be right that the fire breasted flowerpecker is smaller....many internet sources put the pale billed to be smaller, incorrectly
