Nice close-up. Good eye contact. Placing the bird bit more on the right to have more space on the left (in the direction it is looking) would enhance the composition further. I feel a vertical composition would have worked well here. Thanks for sharing.

Vertical composition normally works well with tall birds. Creating a tight composition of a bird is difficult, especially from the middle of the body as that gives an impression of cutting off a body part. Composing with a joint like ankle on the frame edge gives an idea that the composition is deliberate. The frame passing through the middle of the bird is very difficult composition.
