I remember an important turning point within the famous bengali novel "Chander Pahar " by Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay [ Mountain of the Moon ] , picturised last year. Two characters discovered a dormant volcano in Africa - "Oldoinyo Lengai" , which suddenly erupted in front of their eyes . The zulu meaning of the name was "the bed of GOD of Fire".
Similar color situation unfolded around 5500 m AMSL , at Kalapatthar while sun was setting behind two of us and the last rays kissed the mighty Mt Everest. I had to "desaturate" a bit before posting here, otherwise the orange colour might look unnatural.

Location: On way to Kalapatthar, Nepal
Date: 10th Nov 2014, time :17.05 hrs, temp : around (-)10 deg C.
Canon 600D with EF 15-85 IS USM, handheld.
f8 , 1/30, ISO 100 , EV (-)0.3

Amazing. Wonder how an HDR version would look.

Beautiful. The sunrays have lit up Mt. Everest. You have captured it well even in the freezing conditions. The shutter speed was quite low, increasing the ISO would have helped. I liked the composition. Which all places you covered during this trip? Thanks for sharing.

This actually looks like molten lava. You were at the right time to click this image. Watching this would have been an awesome experience. What focal length did you use? How much of a crop is this? Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Sabyasachi

It is hardly cropped ( just to get a correct frame ) and 85mm focal length was used.

Yes, Roopak it was sight of lifetime, simply out-of-the-world it seemed.
