Spotted at SGNP this weekend, this beauty, a spot swordtail, made me run around over 500m, while it kept on fluttering around the pathway, to get some decent frames. Surprisingly it remained steady for a long time allowing me to get closer and closer, but wasnt sure if it wouldnt be bothered if I had been too close, so decided to carry one with zoom lens rather than macro lens, also it was already around 11a.m., so thought the fly would be warmed up enough and alert.

Lovely colours and patters on the wings. Liked the details in the eye. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Good that you got it parallel to the sensor plane. Some more sharpness would have been great. Is it a large crop? You can also try using extension tubes. Wish the background would have been a bit more diffused. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

Its a close to 20% crop, I tried to get some shots with better background, but it flew off to another spot, where I had even more noisy background
