I think it was waiting for a drink. The water looks quite dirty. With so many tourists visiting Bharatpur, it is difficult to keep the place clean :(. Thanks for sharing.

it is indeed very difficult to keep the place clean, inspite of guide tells them not to litter but they will, its in our blood i think :)

Why 260mm and then crop? The red eye looks nice. How long was the sighting? Was it somewhere near sapanmori close to the road? Thanks for sharing.

i wanted to show the bird in habitat rather than going close , quite like the out of focus branch in the foreground, gives a natural frame to it...it was ahead of Gausela Chowki before Kadam Kunj...sighting was for about 10 mins, it kept on flying from one branch to another..
