Short Eared Owl :
Location : LRK,India , 08/02/15
First day , first safari and first time in LRK and what a surprise.
Of all an Owl's features, perhaps the most striking is its eyes. Large and forward facing, they may account for one to five percent of the Owl's body weight, depending on species. An Owl's eyes are large in order to improve their efficiency, especially under low light conditions. In fact, the eyes are so well developed, that they are not eye balls as such, but elongated tubes.

Nice to see it perched on the ground in the open. Agree the eyes of an owl are very captivating. Wish the light had been from over your shoulder, that would have enhanced the image further. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see this Owl from LRK. I remember having very close views of this bird for a long time.

The image looks very dark. Also it appears that the top portion of the frame has been darkened. The top left corner has got some strange reddish orange? colour which is unlike any other colour in the frame. Wonder what was the intention of the post processing.

It would be better to show its habitat in focus. Thanks for sharing.

PS: When every other photographer is focusing on post processing trying to get the background blurred and the subject stand out, it may be a good idea to get deep depth of field and show the linkage between the subject and its habitat.

100% agreed dada , this one was taken while the owl was sitting in a dark area and hence I had to increase shadow , that's all I've done.
Do you think I should have reduced the saturation to reduce reddish effect at top left corner ?
