Nice sighting. Nice close-up. Immaculate Identification. As if Sunil Gavaskar (Roopak Bhai) is facing Andy Roberts (Nishith Bhai) at his best. This bird is seen in Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary near Narendrapur (W.B) during spring.

Nice image of male Black-winged cuckooshrike (Coracina melaschistos). Good that you got the head portion in the clear. As per Pamela C Rasmussen & John C. Anderton's Birds of South Asia (The Ripley Guide) the size is 22cm
Male has rather long black tail with large white tips forming spots on undertail. Male is other wise essentially unmarked. Female can be very like male, but is usually very weakly barred dark and pale grey below, including vent, and often has broken white eye-rinig and fine whitish streaks on cheek.

Range: Summer visitor to Murree Hills (N Pakistan), through Himalayas; resident with marked altitudinal movements, S Assam hills (Meghalaya and south to Lushai Hills) and SE Bangladesh (Chittagongs); up to 2100m, wintering in Himalayan foothills, plains and hills of N and C India and Bangladesh. Common in open, mainly deciduous forest, edge, groves.
