The sambars can be found wallowing even in very less water. They just can't stay away from water.
The catchlight in the eye is nice. Did you focus manually? The foreground would be perhaps couple of feet infront of the sambar and not possible to get in focus. In such situations, focusing very slightly infront of the Sambar, would be of help. Normally, about one third of the area infront of the plane of focus is covered in the depth of field and 2/3rd behind. Thanks for sharing.

Nice behaviour captured. Good you got the eye in clear and the small twig is not blocking it. The composition looks fine. Thanks for sharing.
