Spotted this beauty near the Sati Baug area of SGNP, initially it was lying flat on the leaf but as the sun came in it slowly started raising itself and in its final form was keeping itself frozen in this position

It seems you were clicking from above. If the focal plane is not parallel to the subject then very less of the subject will be in focus due to the short depth of field in close focusing distances.

YEah was a bit higher than the subject, should have attempted some parallel plane shots too...
