Nice sighting of this very shy and elusive species in the open. I too had sighted in Kaziranga during the safari in 2013, but it was a very brief sighting, it immediately rushed back in the bushes :(. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see this species. They always give an impression as if they are ready to bend and hide. We had sighted one close to our jeep and it was moving slowly and cautiously towards us. So I think I had stopped Mrudul from clicking more than one shot. Need to check the archives. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely record shot. Today Hog deer thrives in Kaziranga habitat, as per last population estimation there are more than 25,000 hog deer. Attaching image from one of the sighting.
