A rarity spotted in the local garden of Dahisar, though it gave me a tough time framing, this hypersensitive flyer would give off its position with mildest of my movement. Finally managed to get this dorsal view of the beauty

EXIF:

Canon 100mm macro
F/2.8(Wasnt a close up shot and also for clean background kept widest aperture)
Shutterspeed 1/160

Nice. Perfectly diving the image in half :). Nice colours on the wing. Thanks for sharing.

Nice wingspread. If there is sufficient distance between the dragonfly and the background then a slightly narrow aperture will also result in clean background. However, we all know that most of the times they perch on bushes and leaves etc are closer to the subject so one may not get the desired background all the time. If you were closer to the subject, then a narrow aperture would still have given you a well diffused background. I wonder how during childhood days I used to catch these dragonflies. Now moving close to them is often becoming a challenge. :)

I will share a full frame image later when I get time.

Cheers,
