Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus)
The Kentish plover is one of the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies.
It is a winter migrant in the Bengal Plain.
Location - Damodar River bank, Barddhaman outskirt, West Bengal

Sometimes dams help, I think, discharge from Maithon and Panchyet dams has contributed towards lesser pollution of Damodar R.

Nice little wader. These kinds of images can be shown to kids and encourage them to draw so that it can stir their imagination.

Sand bars on the rivers are very important for the regeneration of the river as well as its cleansing. There has to be a minimum flow of water for the river to remain clean. If the river flows uninterrupted for about 40kms without any industrial and domestic sewage discharge into it, then the water would be clean. Thanks for sharing.
