ID: Purple sunbird

Have been spotting several of these beauties, on this flowering plant, whole day long. Luckily, due to the Mehandi function's tents put up in the open area, I could sneak in close to these beauties and get good frames of them feeding and posing around the flowers

Good to know that you could sneak in. Once I had clicked this bird with a mobile phone. At times one can find them on flowering bushes close to public thoroughfare. 1/800 shutter speed is fine. There are also moments when they perch on the branch and take a momentary break from feeding. In those situations you can also get away with shooting at a slower shutter speed and higher aperture. Thanks for sharing.

Nice. the colours have come out well. good eye contact and compo. the powder puff plant is irresistible to the sun birds and they actively defend territories.
