Welcome to Indiawilds. Nice to see this colourful bird feeding on the berries. As the bird is facing towards the right, more space in that direction (off-centered) composition would be good. Where was this photographed? Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to IndiaWilds!
I would suggest that rather than using the full auto mode, you start with the aperture priority. So you start with say f5.6 and then the camera automatically sets the highest shutter speed. If your subject is perched, and if you see that the shutter speed is say 2500 or so, then just increase the aperture to say f8. You may like to check some of the tutorials in the tips section.
Also since you are shooting with 250mm and birds would appear small in the frame, cropping a lot will reduce the image quality. So you can crop a bit but keep it a bit wider so that we see more habitat and also you retain more details in the image.
