ID: Fulgorid Planthopper Nymph

Had always seen photographs of it on the net or social media but never encountered it in real life until spotted by Yuwaraj Sir along the Nagla trail this beauty showed off its interesting and awe-struck peacock style white tail and occasionally would contract it and hop off. It remained still for small moment otherwise just kept on moving around, probably to evade the group of stalkers in form of photographers.

Nice sighting. The pluffy white thing is part of its tail? Thanks for sharing.

Kind of, the actual tail seemed to be 2-3 thick protrusions in the back(one can be seen in the image) and puffy part was just ahead of it and it controlled it like the tail of a peacock

Nice to see that you found this. These guys are extremely photogenic :). Is there a bluish tint here?

Awesome. I haven't seen this yet. Is this a crop? The bright areas are a bit hot due to the flash. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

It is a crop(roughly 40% reduction). I had to use the external flash as it was directly under harsh spot sunlight, to avoid the shadows I fired off the external flash
