This young handsome hulk of about 4.5 years, supposed to be the son of legendary tigress Kankati from her first litter, is now trying to establish his own territory close to mahaman dam area in magadhi zone of Bandhavgarh and observed to be courting female. Hope this hulk survives through the odds to establish his territory. From his features one can make out he would turn out to be a huge specimen in coming years. He has got some characteristics of his mother Kankati…very tourist friendly.
His mother Kankati, to establish her territory had killed Laxmi and partly devoured her before his birth in 2011. She contributed in tiger population of Bandhavgarh. Despite of one damaged eye, she survived, produced litters and did hunting successfully. In year 2014, when park was about to open for safaris, she had severe conflict with male tiger to save her cubs from second litter. In this conflict she died with her two cubs.

Nice sighting of this huge male tiger. Its always a amazing feeling to see a tiger slowly emerge from behind the bushes and cross the road or if you are lucky walk along the road. Were you hand holding? Was there movement in the gypsy? How is the tourist rush there these days? Thanks for sharing.

The measured steady stride of a tiger emerging out of the bushes into the open is always a breath taking experience. The Kanha backdrop adds to the thrill of the experience .It seems lady luck was by your side in Kanha as well. Thanks for sharing the thrill of your experience.

That is a great capture. A little darkening improves this great photo even more.

The reserve is known for famous males...B2, Charger onced ruled. Nice stepping captured so well. Generally speaking, the skull of Bandhavgarh males are large. Wish it would shortly catch up its famous predecessors. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

I think again there is an issue with the image size and the software has resized this image to 1023 pixels on the longest side. You may have uploaded a bigger file.

Cheers,

Love to see the big male from BTR , BTR is known for his reputation of big male like Charger , B2 , ....etc. Full tummy shows he has had big meal recently. Image looks soft may be the reason as mentioned by Sabyasachi da.
Overall lovely image TFS.
