Many of the spiders are nocturnal. This orb-web spider (Neoscona sp.) is one of them. This image is taken at about 8.15 pm. I with my friend Surajit Bhadra Roy- recently joined this forum- set out to find previously seen a kind of tarantula spider there. It was only one that is recorded by him previously from this region (North part of the district plus Nadia- as far as I know). Though luck did not favoured us. The place is Halisahar, North 24 Pargana, West-Bengal. This particular place in Halisahar was quite rich with bird and insect-spider varieties. Though it is loosing its jwells as the place is undertaken for industrial development. The background bokeh effect is nothing but the lights of one of the growing project standing at a distance.

Nice image. I think a higher ISO and shutter speed would have helped to get more details. Thanks for sharing.

Nice image. Can anybody help the sp? It's very sad to express all of you that, this area has almost lost its virginity.

This is the unfortunate truth with most of our unprotected wild areas.
A higher DoF would have been better.
