ID: Wolf spider with spider-lings

Spotted some swift movements while on a lookout for frogs along a waterlogged area, and later realized it was a tiny wolf spider, but with a surprise, it had its abdomen filled with tiny spider-lings and it probably was a tad in shock after seeing me in its close proximity. It stayed still for a long time, in a ditch filled with water, and had its one hind leg raised above its body, any idea why? due to its location in the ditch cudnt manage to get any lower frame and hence had to be satisfied with this frame.

Interesting observation. Not sure of the raising the leg behavior, maybe it is a sign of danger. Did you observe its behavior when you had moved out to some distance? Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

When any spiders raise one of their front legs, then you can know that it is a sign of defense which can turn into offense as well. Move in a bit closer and you will get to know if it tries to hurt you. :)

PS: said in jest. It is not advisable to test how it feels when someone is forced to attack you. Apart from danger to the photographer, it is not right to cause stress to other species.
