Devastating flood in Manas

This image has been captured during my recent visit to Manas. It was my second visit to Manas in this monsoon. Almost 60% of central range of Manas has been inundated due to heavy rain fall and allegedly release of water from Kurichu dam of Bhutan. I'll share a detailed report in next month on this devastating situation of Manas...Here, the water of river Beki is flowing into the park.

Oh the water is flowing over the bridge. How is the situation of the animals? How long was your stay? Were there any sightings? Thanks for sharing.

Nature's fury :(. I am just hoping in case there may be a silver lining in all this, may be in the form of some illegal structures, on the flood plains, washed away. We may need to gear up to face more & more of nature's extremes. This year the rains have broken all previous records in Telangana and Marathwada, that too in just 1.5 weeks.

Animals were seen going to the upper portion of the park like Uchhla Bandh, Roishingla, Bhutan side and eastern part of park. There is no news of animal casualties till 15th October as per Forest department. I was there for 6 days to observe the unique ecosystem of Manas in monsoon and this was an amazing experience to me. This is the main road connecting India to Bhutan through Manas and after two hours of this shot the both approach of that bridge had been washed away.
Lot of elephant, two or three Rhino were seen in dry portion in eastern side... I'll share that experience in next month..
