Goosander is also known as Common Merganser. It is a rare winter migrant in the rivers and lakes of India from Europe and Central Asia. I have clicked this photograph on 7 Jan, 2017 in the Teesta Barrage, Gajoldoba, West Bengal.

Nice sighting to see these rare migratory birds. Good take off pose captured. Some of details maybe due to the crop. You can keep more space all around to show more of the habitat. Thanks for sharing.

Nice sighting to see these rare migratory birds. Good take off pose captured. Some of details maybe due to the crop. You can keep more space all around to show more of the habitat. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see this bird. The saturation seems to be a bit high. Were you clicking from a boat? How much of a crop is this? Thanks for sharing.
