Caspian Gull (2nd winter plumage). Larus cachinnans by most bird books, but this species is also considered a part of the Lesser black-backed gull complex - so it won't be too surprising if its name and status change at some point, like some of its relatives.
Identifying these can be tricky - in this case, the indications I used are the bill colour, and the light grey patches on the back.

Off Gateway, Mumbai | Jan 2017. Photographing birds at this place is also always a reminder of the usefulness (in such cases) of a variable focal length, over a prime lens :) (although this is not my primary reason for preferring zoom lenses; and primes certainly do have their merits in other situations).

Thanks, C&C welcome.

Nice wingspread and eye contact. A lot of people feed the gulls, so in some tourist places in Mumbai as well as in neighbouring Gujarat one can shoot these birds at smaller focal lengths. One third stop less exposure would have been good for the bright whites. Thanks for sharing.

interesting sighting..and lovely image...

In our Northern part of West Bengal, migratory species have come in lesser number this year...
