Mother with calves in the magical forest of Manas.

Had to wait for about 30 minutes for the herd to come out of the bushes, this mother and calves were bold enough to lead the entire herd of about 15 to 18 elephants out of the dense bush.

Nice to see all the greenery which dwarfs the tallest mammal of our jungles. This is a crop from which sides? I have seen aggressive elephants blocking the road for hours in corbett. Some of that also provoked by tourists. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Lovely. Yes, this is truly wild Manas. I have seen tusker guarding the exit road and gave us the green signal after, say 40 minutes. Debasis Bhai, did you find the colour of skin is little darker in general, but not as a rule ? Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Nice to see two calves with the mother. They look like twins :). Loved the surrounding greenery. Thanks for sharing.

Madam Mrudul has raised a valid point. Both the calves are of same age and look very healthy.'The rule is one calf at a birth, but occasionally two are born'*. Mother (or aunt) of same herd will be equally apprehensive of welfare of calves. Manas is truly wild. *Krishnan has seen birth of twins in Mudumalai. SaktiWild
