Hello friends,
Couple of days back I purchased Canon EOS 5Ds and I used it for night photography. The image shows a long line of hot pixels across the 80 % of the breadth of the frame. Just to make sure I made some more images at different locations and every image has this line. This image is shot at f/2.8, 10 seconds and ISO-640. During daytime shooting, line is not seen, however the single bright hot pixel on the left side of line is always there. During daytime, even at ISO 3200, the line is not seen.
Can this be considered within normal limits? Apperently the line appears only in long exposure and high ISO shots. If abnormal, and if I register my complaint, what should I expect from Canon? Do they entertain such complaints under warrenty?
Thanks in advance...
Regards,
Jitendra

The line appears at which ISO?

Your hotpixels don't appear in daytime as the surround areas are mostly bright. Canon has its service centre in Mumbai and in all metros. Since it is under warranty, you raise it to them.

They would definitely give this due consideration. Looks like a serious issue that needs attention, and since it's under warranty, you should have it checked as soon as possible. Canon India is punctual and systematic with these matters.

Did you hear anything from Canon?

No Sabyasachi, not yet. Waiting for the reply..
Before sending the camera back, I tried it during daytime for long exposure. I used nine stop ND filter and used 30 second exposure at ISO-100. Both, hot pixel and the line were there, as vividly as seen in the night shot.

Thanks Abhishek for the concern, I hope that Canon will look into the matter favourably...
