The Rufous-necked Hornbill is now Vulnerable species. Numbers have declined significantly due to habitat loss and hunting, and it has been entirely extirpated from Nepal. It is estimated that there are now less than 10,000 adults remaining. The nesting period is from March to June, the trees preferred are tall and have broad girths. If you want to watch this species, you must go to the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary of West Bengal.

Have you not seen any other male, Sandipan and Samrat Bhai .....enquiring about viable numbers? I have good hope for the future of Mahananda. Should be declared a Tiger Reserve.

Have you read this story......when a train passing through Mahanada in the night suddenly stopped inside the forest, a King Cobra climbed up and entered the compartment to enquire 'What's going on'.....the King was inspecting the compartment and and passengers of compartment(s) taking shelter inside the washrooms !
Kind regards,
SaktiWild

Lovely sighting. Light appears to be low. However, the highlight (top of the casque) is overexposed and lost details and simultaneously the blue feathers have lost details due to underexposure. I am wondering if this is due to post-processing.

Did you click a vertical composition? How much of a crop is the present image?
