This Makhana swam across the Kabini to this island that was formed by the receding waters. The fresh grass on the island was the attraction. River Terns on the other hand use the same island to roost/ nest . They are ground nesting / roosting birds and favour these islands as , apart from crocodiles , they are uninhabited and those no chance of predators getting at there eggs or of the nest being trampled underfoot. That is till elephants swim across to graze.
