This was a late evening sighting in a very low light.
Owl was perched on a tree with no movement , I used spot metering here and this shot is hand held at 1/50sec shutter speed.
Canon EOS 7D M II , Canon 500mm f/4 IS L USM with 1.4 canon converter , 1/50 , f/4 , ISO=1000 , Handheld , Spot metering , +0.7 step.

I love its eyes. It keeps us hooked. Such a lovely bird.

If you were using 1.4xTC, then how the aperture is f4? Do you mean to say f5.6?

Slightly more depth of field would have helped in getting the tail feathers. However, you were in lowlight situation. So further narrow aperture would have been difficult without increasing ISO. Lowering the colour temperature slightly would be good.

Did you click one with a wider composition without the TC? Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Thnx dada for help to change it to bird category .
Yes the aperture is f/5.6 and not f/4.
This is a full frame shot and had no choice with wider composition.

Lovely piercing eyes. The vertical composition looks good. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Brown fish owl, so close ! Excellent details . Though a little wider Compo may have added some glimpses of surroundings. Thanks for sharing.
