On a cold foggy morning at Kabini. The mist was quite dense and visibility was extremely poor.
Had to bump up the ISO to insane heights (16000!!!), Wide open aperture (4.5), Exposure compensation +2.0 and the shutter at an alarming 1/125 on a boat, which had its motors switched off.
The 100-400 IS II ISM and the 5D Mark III were supported by a large bean bag.
Was not sure if the circular polarizing filter would have worked here as there was absolutely no sunlight and hence did not try using it.

Otters are always playful, they are ' mood elevators' for wildlife lovers in the jungle. 'V' shaped nostrils, look like Lutrogale perspicillata -- lovely image. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

Lovely sighting. The boat has helped to get a nice low angle. The webbed feet can be seen here clearly. How long was the sighting? I am yet to photograph these shy species :(. Was it in the same trip you sighted the black panther? Thanks for sharing.

Lovely sighting. As noted by Mrudul the webbed feet is visible. I think you had posted image of otters earlier as well.

The circular polariser has no function in this case.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Thanks Mrudul. No, this was on another trip - a winter misty morning. The Black Panther was just a couple of months ago. The sighting was for maybe 5 minutes, before they disappeared underwater.

Thanks Sabyasachi

Yes, we have been lucky with the otters during most of our kabini trips. The Circular Polarizing filter was a thought as i was trying all options to shoot through the mist, but as there was no sunlight, i was not sure if it would help. So, i waited for a chance for the mist to clear and when it did for a couple of minutes, i got this one.
