We were about to complete our morning safari at Sariska, and were reaching the Tehla Gate, and saw a Sambar Deer standing by the side of the mud road.Unusually for the Sambar,it did not move away from the approaching vehicle. We passed it and stopped. It was looking at a steep hill by the side of the road and was shivering profusely.I have never seen a Deer shiver so much in trepidation. It was making the alarm calls and then bounded off.We thought there might be a Leopard up the hill but did not see any.

Unmistakable sound in the jungle testifying to the presence of a tiger or leopard on move. We all, whether a guide or a tourist, keep our ears open for this audio signal.
Nice recording.

Nice and clear record. Agree with Saktida, a sound to alert you that a predator is on the move. Thanks for sharing.

Did you record using your phone? I remember an alarm call that a Sambar made in the night in Similipal. It was sharp and can give a heart attack to a person who is not familiar with the sounds of the jungle. I only wish that visitors remain tightlipped during the Safari and not talk and ruin the atmosphere. Generally foreign tourists are well behaved than Indian ones. Wonder why? Thanks for sharing.
