Both sides were unperturbed by the presence of the other!...I was busy clicking the Indian Jackals when this Sambar walked into the frame.

Behavior of the pair of jackals and the lone sambar stag towards each other nicely recorded. Jackals hunt on fawns... to overcome an adult sambar may be beyond their capacity.
Sambar of Sariska and Hazaribagh attain best development.

I have seen a lone jackal chasing a nilgai in Keoladeo Ghana. The Nilgai was galloping at its top speed. It was very surprising that such a small carnivore can even attack a large herbivore. I have seen Sambar fawns hiding in the bush and remaining very still to get unnoticed. Else, jackals pickup the fawns. They are very intelligent creatures and are fighters. I respect them.

Nice to see both these species in the same frame. As Saktida has said, the sambar is aware that the jackals will not attack him, and so is not bothered by their presence. I feel zooming out slightly to include the sambar in full would have strengthen the composition further. Thanks for sharing.
