GoPro has launched a stripped down version of their action camera and have named it Hero. The GoPro Hero is similar in size to the Hero 5 Black and Hero 6 Black. However, it is limited to 1080p resolution. One can also shoot in 1440p as some broadcasters need it.

The idea behind the GoPro Hero is that normal consumers who are trying to simply get their photos or videos recorded don’t always need all the features. So creating a camera without those features and charging less makes sense. Especially in a situation where GoPro is outpriced in the market and is making losses.

If people have any accessories of GoPro Hero5 Black or GoPro Hero6 Black, then those will fit in with the Hero. So even existing users can use this camera. At times we need multiple cameras to record and a few of them focussed specifically on one area and recording at 1080p is fine as well.

The GoPro Hero is waterproof till 33 feet depth without any need for a housing. So normal clicking or filming in shallow dives or even in ponds etc will work well with this camera.

The GoPro Hero can record upto 1080p at 60fps. So one gets slow motion. The same voice assisted commands in the Hero 5 Black and Hero 6 Black also works here. So one can start and stop recording of this camera using voice commands.

There is a rear LCD of 2 inch size which helps in reviewing the shots or changing the menu. One can also connect to the GoPro app and control the camera remotely.

There is a built-in electronic stabilization in the GoPro HERO which helps in recording smooth video while holding it or placing it in a mount in vehicle or elsewhere.

The cost of the GoPro Hero is 199.99 US Dollars.

It is to be seen how good is the adoption of this camera.
