Changeable Hawk Eagle. Seems was annoyed with the sound of our safari vehicle. Turned it's back towards us. :sneaky2:
Tried to check us out for a split second ...is when I caught it :) :) :001_tongue:

5D III - 100-400 ; @400mm ; 5.6 ; 1/200 ; 2000 and crammed for space at the back seat with two guys and their 500 MMs.

You got it nicely through the crammed space. That's shows how good 100-400 mm lens is to use :). The vertical composition look good. Loved the eye contact and the crest. Thanks for sharing.

A bit narrow aperture would have been better as you would have got higher depth of field. What ISO were you using?

These days I generally prefer to stay away from these premier national parks. When I go, I prefer to sit in the back seat rather than get into these manhood contests with whose lens is bigger. Often they look ahead and fail to spot. Last time in Kabini, these guys with their 500mms couldn't spot the black panther nor could they spot an changeable hawk eagle with kill.

Wish you were a bit more to the left or the eagle had turned its head a bit more. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Nice details Neeraj. I have a liking for this bird and may be stupidly superstitious as well, whenever I see a CHE in the jungles of India I have seen a tiger. As stupid as it may sound, a bit of silliness-chalta hai :). The great Jim Corbett always used to believe that killing a snake first in his quest for a man eater would bring him luck!!! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all..

@ Murugan ..lol ! I did see a tiger the same day I spotted the Che..

@ Sabya ..'manhood contests' cracked me up !! - 100-400 Lens , I normally keep at 5.6 (it's maximum at full length) unless conditions change. The ISO was at 2000. I think what we must learn is to predict animal behavior, the way it turned it's back on us, most of us thought it to be a useless pursuit and that's when it turned, reminded me of Shahrukh's DDLJ where he kept repeating 'Palat' and Kajol eventually did.
