A look out before the hop

One of the royal visitors in the backyard of my granny's home, this family of peafowls seem to enjoy the vast open areas and farm lands without much interference from the local villagers. Here is one instance where the peahen surveyed the area, filled with some grasses that they feed on, before hopping down from the compound wall.

Nice one. Slightly more contrast would be great. Good to see that these peacocks and peahens are frequenting your granny's compound. Generally in South India peacocks are protected as vehicle of Kartikeya (Murugan). I only wish that these peafowls continue to have suitable habitat so that they can thrive. Thanks for sharing.

It is good to know that these birds are still staying in close proximity to humans. Near Bharatpur I had seen lot of peacocks/peahens on the roof of houses. Not sure if they are protected there or not. The greenery in the background adds to the composition. Thanks for sharing.
