From my childhood days when I started painting, famous bird-artist William T. Cooper was my hero. Still now I follow his work in every way. Last two months of 2018 I was busy observing Black-headed Orioles. I made some field sketches, took lots of field notes and obviously took several images of them. I made this composition in a way that Cooper did. At first lots of field sketch, studied head pattern, wing pattern etc and finally made a plate. This is one of them. Still I am working on that.

I wish a very green new year to all of the viewers and members of IndiaWilds.

Sketch made with Coloured wood-pencil unlike Cooper.

Amazing painting, Samrat! I must say you are really a good painter! And one good thing is that you have at least tried to follow the techniques of your Hero! Keep it up, Samrat!

Excellent work Samrat !

By any chance do you know Deepak Ganguly ? He does Tiger sketches, especially from Sundarbans.
