Mudumalai gave us good sightings of birds, this was clicked during the evening safari. In a camper full of people (my family) it was a challenge to click this bird especially as its quite frisky. Thankfully my family has learnt to stay quite and motionless when we take pics and while in the jungle, my cousin has a 600mm lens and is always more worried than I am when we are all together. There are a good number of birds in the area, infact our hotel garden gave us more opportunities for birding as compared to the jungle, ironically. Will post some hotel backyard/balcony birding pics soon.

Lovely shot Murugan! It is great that you have found this little bird, as it is almost of the same color as a trunk! Really amazing job Murugan! :thumbup1:

These birds move fast. So one needs to get ready and then fire the moment the woodpecker takes a momentary break. This is against the light situation. Wish you had frontal early morning/late evening lighting as that would have enhanced the scene. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Nice. Balcony birding is the best, the birds are used to people being nearby and you have the comfort of the room :). The high ISO and shutter speed has helped. It is quite difficult to photograph it as it keeps circling the bark fast. Still not got a decent photograph of it :(. Thanks for sharing.
