Impressive size. Well developed antlers and brow tines though none of these are very long. Its 'sore patch' has healed up. Prominent whorl of hairs on the throat; large, abovate ears having little hairs inside. Nice specimen, lovely image.

In the initial days the sore patch was not known. Now we have so many examples and studies to help with our understanding.

This fellow has nice head gear. The Sambar is one handsome animal which never gets its due from tiger crazy tourists. Healthy population of Sambars is good for sustaining good tiger population. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Those antlers are the first take away's when looking at this picture, nicely shaped and strong. Alert and agile these animals are, they normally call and stamp their feet only when they see the predator. Thanks for sharing.

And he is yet to polish his antlers and remove the velvet which then will make them more attractive again.
Nice capture.
