A chance glance into the canopy above revealed the hide out of this nocturnal denizen of the Bhadra forests .Nikon 850+200-500 ,1/125s ,ISO1600 ,F/7.1 .Feb morning 2019 . The sighting was just for a few seconds before this shy creature withdrew into the darkness of its hideout .

The largest of our squirrels, nocturnal by habit, peeping out from its sleeping hole to greet the famed nature-lover of our forum ! The eyes are large, dark and protuberant, and evidently meant for night vision. Brilliantly captured at right moment. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

Agree with Saktida :). Really lucky to sight and photograph this shy species. Its nice you could get its face in the clear from the leaves in the foreground. Once such sighting and the trip is worth all the effort :). Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting image of the squirrel, Shyamalaji. Looks like after a night of foraging it was just settling down in the morning hours when it gave you 'darshan' :). What time was this clicked? Thanks for sharing.
