Nice eye contact. With the open beak and broken bark one can know what is happening. This looks like a large crop. the details get reduce. Nevertheless the black markings in the body can merge it with the surroundings. Of course its movements will always give it away. Thanks for sharing.

Nice sighting. I have not seen this species in the wild. It is so nicely camouflaged against the tree bark. Usually difficult to photograph as they travel fast around the tree. Nice eye contact. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! They mostly found in southern, eastern and northern India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, southern China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia!

We call this the baldy woodpecker here in the forests of south east asia. Nice picture of the bird, and do agree that it looks like a large crop. The catchlight in the eye looks nice. Another offbeat destination, kindly share some details of this location too. Thanks for sharing.
