Nikon D850+200-500 ,F/7.1, ISO900 ,1/250s .This female was collecting nesting material for her nest in a tree close by .I was surprised to see a nesting pair so far north in Pench Wildife Sanctuary Madhya Pradesh .

Nice behaviour. It is great that the hornbill is seen sideways so the entire body is in focus. When was this photographed? The hornbill will use this to seal the cavity with the female hornbill inside it for nesting. This is a time when the female is particularly vulnerable. Tribals are known to hunt them by opening the sealed nest and catching the female hornbill. Thanks for sharing.
