In this photo the light is against you. Their shadow sides face you. The rock is favourite perching place and has been painted white by the guano deposited by the birds. The white areas are very bright and the shadow side of the predominantly black coloured birds are also facing you. So it places a massive challenge on the dynamic range of the camera. The blacks have become underexposed. So shooting them when the boat is more to the left of the current position would have been better. Thanks for sharing.

Its good that they are all looking in the same direction. The light is a challenge. Agree with the above comments. Next time check if the subject is against the light, that will help when you compose. Thanks for sharing.
