ID: Weaver ants(Oecophylla smaragdina)

Came across this interesting sight on a tree, along the trail, it seemed like the red ants had attacked on some black ant's locality and had been carrying the dead catches back to its base. Spotted several of them carrying huge to small and pieces of the ruins of the catch, including some of its own types, probably the martyrs of the attack

This is interesting. Did you watch the attack? How numerous were the red ants? The top black portion doesn't add to the image. May be more space at the bottom/ all around would have been better. The macro world is always active and one can get such interesting behaviour. One just needs to keep a sharp eye for such happenings. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Interesting behavior photographed. Agree with Sabyasachi, the macro world has so many things to observe/photograph. Good details. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely. Observing ants is always fun, as there is a lot of behaviour to watch all the time. Agree that there is some negative space at the tops, and moving the camera slightly downward would have helped that.
