The cute eyes of the predator

ID: Jumping spider (specific id help appreciated) with katydid catch

Came across this beauty who had just caught the translucent and long beauty, and though we took some time to spot the predator with the catch and frame them, the katydid seemed to be still alive and kept on moving its antennae and the front limbs. Luckily for us, the spidey wasn’t bothered by our intrusion and even better it didn’t abandon the prized catch and was rather, atleast seemed like, intrigued by the lens that was facing it and kept on keeping an eye on it.

Really loved the eyes in this image. They look like the big eyes of a rabbit showed in cartoon films :D. Good that the katydid is also in focus. Was it possible to get the tips of the antennae in the frame? Lovely capture. Thanks for sharing.

Great find. I like this image. However, this definitely needed more depth of field. The minimum focusing distance of these lenses ensure that the lens to subject distance has to remain at one feet. It is not always easy to estimate. You should try using extension tubes between your camera and lens. It will help improve the size of subject in the frame. Some third party ones spoil your AF. Others help maintain AF. Canon extension tubes are a bit costly though.
