Its quite difficult to photograph these birds, as they are very agile. Nice that you could get it close on a natural perch. Is this cropped? Any sharpening done? Thanks for sharing.

Exposing the true/original colour of a bird is a big challenge to every photographer. You may notice that authors like Inskipp, Rusmussen etc prefer hand sketches of bird for field guide not photograph to document original plumage. The iridescent plumage of swallow in sunlight is quite difficult to expose.

Totally agree with Samratji. Its difficult to get small birds bigger in a frame and cropping reduces the details. So for birding you can try to choose a good spot and use a hide to sit, so you can get good close-ups. Keep clicking.

The image is so severely cropped that sensor dust is visible. Though I have tried it in the past, cutting off tail of a bird is generally doesn't result in a pleasing composition. If you are composing by cutting off a body part then there should be some reason to it. would love to hear your reason.
