Chota Matka the son of Matkasur enjoys a lazy siesta on a little island in Tadoba on a wintry morning in Tadoba Nov 2019 .Nikon D850+200-500 ,1/1250s ,F/8 ,ISO 800 .We waited for a long time for him to arise and let us a view of his magnificent proportions .He is supposed to surpass his father in size and stature .Unfortunately in spite of a herd of gaurs coming up close to the water hole he refused to get up and we had to leave disappointed .He did raise his head and take a peek at us once in a while though .

Such funny names 'Matkasur' :). I think the guides usually name the tigers :). Any idea why he is called that?

Nice to see the inquisitive look. I feel a more rectangular composition with less space at the bottom (you can crop the hint of water, as it kind of distracts from the focus on the tiger) would strength the composition further. Look forward to more from Tadoba. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pose of a tiger raising its head to watch its surroundings.

To watch authentic tiger behaviour one needs to be patient. Unfortunately these days with so many tourists and restrictive timings it becomes very difficult. Once in Corbett in the early 2000s, I waited for three and half hours just on the basis of reading the body language of a vulture. Later a peacock confirmed the presence of the tiger and its kill in the bush below. Finally the tiger emerged and got into a pool. These days the forest authorities force you to move away from a spot.
